Europe flooding toll hits 9 dead
Warsaw (AFP) May 18, 2010
Flooding across central Europe caused more disruption with three more bodies found in Poland and Slovakia, taking the total death toll to nine, authorities announced Tuesday. In Poland, an eight-year-old boy drowned in the southern city of Krakow and the body of an 80-year-old woman was recovered Tuesday morning from a highland stream in the southern mountain resort of Zakopane. A senior EU envoy urged seven east African countries on Thursday to settle differences with Egypt and Sudan over sharing the waters of the Nile river and refrain from signing a new deal on their own.
