Air Scrubber Plus with ActivePure technology is the only IAQ product featured in this year's Spinoff magazine, a publication of NASA. ActivePure is the only technology of its kind designated by the Space Foundation as Certified Space Technology.

The advancement of NASA technology developed in the 1990s for use on the Space Shuttle Columbia and on the International Space Station to the present day uses in the private sector was highlighted in the 2015 edition of Spinoff, an annual NASA publication highlighting products that underwent a similar evolution.

Air Scrubber Plus works via a combination of UV light, oxygen and water molecules reacting together and passing through the honeycomb cell coated with a proprietary formulation of non-nano titanium dioxide and other highly reactive metals. This Advanced Oxidation Process produces superoxide ions, hydroxyls and hydrogen peroxide, which in turn clean the air and surfaces in the indoor environment.

The ActivePure technology found in Air Scrubber Plus underwent rigorous testing at Kansas State University. A team of researchers sought to determine the technology's efficacy. They found that the technology was reducing up to 99% of contaminants found on surfaces. The study was conducted on stainless steel surfaces in a controlled airflow cabinet.

A second study, conducted at the University of Cincinnati Center for Health-Related Aerosol Studies, validated the effectiveness of ActivePure technology's air purification technique of combining aerosol and bioaerosol control mechanisms of unipolar emission and photocatalytic oxidation at controlling the contaminants.
