The Egyptian Air Force is increasing its fleet of Airbus C295 transports to 20 aircraft through an order for additional planes.
Airbus Defense and Space said its new contract from Egypt is for eight aircraft but it did not provide a monetary value for the deal.
Delivery of the C295s, which are manufactured in Spain, will begin next year.
"We greatly appreciate the Egyptian Air Force's confidence in our products based on their successful experience with the C295 in-service to date," said Antonio RodrÃguez Barberán, Airbus' head of Military Aircraft sales.
The C295 is a twin-turboprop. It can carry 71 troops and has a payload capacity of more than 20,000 pounds. Its cruise speed is listed as 300 miles per hour, while its range is more than 2,000 miles with a 13,200-pound payload.
Egypt had previously ordered 12 of the aircraft. Six of those are in service.
The new contract includes a support package that covers spare parts, training, and fleet maintenance.
