PariSat returns first images of Earth

Paris, France (SPX) Jul 22, 2024

Earth's beauty has been captured by some of the youngest space operators. The PariSat experiment, part of Ariane 6's inaugural flight, was developed by young enthusiasts aged 15 to 25 from the GAREF AEROSPATIAL amateur space club.

The experiment aimed to test the Stefan-Boltzmann law of thermal radiation by identifying the most effective materials for dissipating heat in space.

Eight 4 cm square plates are being evaluated for their efficiency as space radiators, considering various properties like material type, color, and their thermal reactions in the space environment.

In addition to the thermal experiment, PariSat includes a photography project using a specially adapted GoPro camera, controlled by a custom module designed by GAREF AEROSPATIAL.

The modified camera features a fisheye lens that highlights Earth's curvature in breathtaking images of our planet.

The PariSat team is currently analyzing the data collected, which was transmitted to Earth and received by the Swedish Space Corporation's Kiruna station in Sweden.
