China To Launch Third Manned Space Flight Sep 25
Beijing (RIA Novosti) Sep 15, 2008 China will launch its Shenzhou 7 manned spacecraft at 13:10 GMT on September 25, weather permitting, the Sohu news service reported Friday. For the launch of the Long March IIF rocket to go ahead there must be no rain forecast, wind velocity of less than eight meters per second, and ground visibility of more than 20 kilometers. In a first for China, one of the three astronauts on board will perform a one-hour spacewalk at an altitude of 341 kilometers from the Earth. China plans to build its own orbital space station and create a space laboratory before 2020.

Sydney, Australia (SPX) Sep 11, 2008Earlier this month, China suddenly brought forward the launch window for the Shenzhou 7 space mission. The mission was originally expected to lift off in mid-October, but will now take off at some time between September 25 and 30. This flight will produce China�s first spacewalk. |
