Comtech Telecommunications Receives Movement Tracking System Orders by Staff Writers Melville NY (SPX) Mar 12, 2008 Comtech Telecommunications has announced that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, received orders totaling $16.4 million under its Movement Tracking System, or MTS contract, with the U.S. Army. Total orders received to date against the $605.1 million MTS contract increased to $76.1 million.

The orders are for the supply of MTS systems which feature Comtech's Model MT-2012 mobile satellite transceivers integrated with both ruggedized and control station computers, miscellaneous hardware, installation kits, program management, and technical support services. Comtech's Model MT-2012 transceiver features Savi Technology's ISO-compliant EchoPoint RFID Reader, as well as secure Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities.

The orders will support ongoing MTS program activities in the United States and abroad, as well as support the National Guard Bureau's (NGB's) United States Homeland Defense initiatives. The NGB directly funded $5.2 million of the $16.4 million in total orders placed under the MTS contract.

Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., said, "We are pleased to have received these most recent MTS orders. This critical communications capability enables the MTS Program to meet ongoing military operational objectives and the National Guard Bureau to better prepare for and react to disaster and recovery operations at the local, state and national levels. These new orders are indicative of the vital roles our communication and network technologies play in providing communications capabilities when conventional telecommunications systems are unavailable or ineffective."
