DuPont Microcircuit Materials recently celebrated the opening of a new technical center at its Taoyuan facility. Powered in part by a 4.25 kilowatt solar panel, the center provides research, development and technical support for its customers in the photovoltaic (PV) solar energy industry that use DuPont Solamet thick film metallization pastes.

The center also includes an educational display area, in addition to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for material development and analytical services.

"This new technical center allows us to be closer to our customers in the region and will help accelerate our ability to meet their needs for materials that make PV cells and modules more efficient and less costly," said Walt Cheng, global business director -- DuPont Microcircuit Materials.

"With evaluation facilities resembling our customers' production lines, we can conduct more systematic product evaluations, troubleshoot issues more quickly and modify paste properties for maximum performance. We look forward to continuing and expanding our tradition of innovation with Solamet in this new technical center."

Advanced analytical equipment in the laboratory includes a printer, with fast speed and precise alignment, an IR Furnace, which offers a rapid thermal firing process, troubleshooting tools, and an IV tester, which transforms a high-power flasher into a solar simulator for evaluation efficiency performance, and is widely used in automatic production lines.

The opening of the technical center is part of a broader expansion for DuPont Microcircuit Materials in Asia and for DuPont in the photovoltaic industry. The company also recently announced it is more than doubling capacity for Solamet at its Dongguan, China, manufacturing facility.

DuPont Microcircuit Materials has over 40 years of experience in the development, manufacture, sale, and support of specialized thick film compositions for a wide variety of electronic applications in the photovoltaic, display, automotive, biomedical, industrial, military, and telecommunications markets.
