El Salvador announces Iraq pull out

 San Salvador (AFP) Dec 23, 2008
 El Salvador's President Elias Antonio Saca announced Tuesday that his country would end its military presence in Iraq on December 31.

"Considering the lack of a United Nations resolution, the government of El Salvador decided to end our presence in Iraq," Saca told reporters.

El Salvador has had troops in Iraq since 2003, part of the coalition led by the United States. There are now some 200 Salvadoran troops there.

Romanian parliament votes to keep troops in Iraq in 2009

 Romania's parliament voted Tuesday to maintain troops in Iraq in 2009, upon President Traian Basescu's request, as the future of non-US forces in the country remained uncertain.
