Moscow (AFP) Nov 18, 2007 European telecommunications satellite Sirius 4 was successfully put into orbit Sunday after being put into space by a Russian rocket, the Russian Space Agency said, Ria Novosti agency reported. The rocket took off from Kazakhstan on Saturday night, and the satellite "detached as intended" from the launcher and was put into orbit at 0753 GMT on Sunday, according to the space agency. Sirius 4, made by Lockheed Martin of the US, is operated by European telecoms firm SES Sirius and will be used for communications in Europe and North Africa.
