Five killed in flash floods in northern Morocco
Rabat (AFP) Oct 10, 2008 Five people were killed in Morocco after flash floods struck the northern city of Nador, the country's MAP news agency reported Friday. An adult and four children died Thursday when the floods, caused by nearby rivers bursting their banks, tore through the city, which is located on the edge of the Rif mountains. Emergency services and the government prefect in Nador said the city's Taouima district had been worst affected by the floods. The city's roads reopened Thursday evening after being cut off for most of the day. Meanwhile, rain continued Friday morning in Nador, although less heavily than the day before. Traffic had also returned to normal, police added.
