The U.S. Coast Guard's seventh National Security Cutter will be equipped with a C4ISR system from Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed said the contract for its command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system was awarded by Huntington Ingalls Industries, which will build the cutter, Kimball.

"The NSC's C4ISR system is critical to ensuring the USCG can support the nation's maritime strategy," said Joe Buss, program director of Lockheed Martin's Coast Guard and Mission Control Systems. "Our brave men and women of the Coast Guard rely on the accuracy and timeliness of the data our system provides to achieve their many missions and maritime operations."

Lockheed Martin's C4ISR system provides real-time situational awareness, commonality and interoperability for enhanced collection and sharing of maritime data between Coast Guard air, land and sea assets.

The Coast Guard's current fleet of National Security Cutters all feature Lockheed Martin C4ISR systems

Legend-class National Security Cutters are 418 feet long and 54 feet in the beam. They have a speed of more than 28 knots and a range of 12,000 nautical miles.
