Maidstone, England (UPI) Jan 2, 2010
A fox twice the normal size has been found in England, raising fears the animals are growing bigger from easy eating.

The male fox, weighing 26.5 pounds and measuring 4 feet long, was captured and killed in Maidstone, Kent, after a cat was killed, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

It was trapped in a cage and euthanized by Keith Talbot, a veterinarian.

Zoologists say foxes may be getting bigger by eating food scraps found in trash cans or left out by animal lovers. A pack's alpha male will often grow bigger than the rest by claiming the most food.

There are believed to be at least 34,000 urban foxes in Britain. Fears they could pose a threat rose after twins were attacked in their beds in London.
