Handheld control display units for devices that jam radio-controlled improvised explosive devices are being manufactured by IEE for Northrop Grumman.

The displays -- 3.5 inches in size -- are for Northrop's Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare, or JCREW, Increment 1 Block 1 syste developed for the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command.

The software-programmable jammers are entering low-rate initial production.

IEE's microprocessor-based control display units feature a dual backlit QVGA color LCD display for sunlight readability and a sealed nine-key keypad.

"IEE consistently saves our customers time and money with field-proven products that qualify as Non-Developmental Items (NDI) with minor modifications," said Tom Whinfrey, CEO of IEE. "We've been working with Northrop Grumman for quite some time though the developmental stages of this critical project and are delighted to continue to the production phase."
