ISS Orbit Adjusted By Russian Progress Ship
Moscow (RIA Novosti) Oct 06, 2008 The International Space Station was successfully moved to a higher orbit Saturday in an operation put off Thursday due to a threat from space debris, a Mission Control spokesman said. "The engine of the Progress M-65 ship was fired for 282 seconds," the spokesman said. "The average height of the ISS orbit has been increased by 1.25 km to become approximately 353 km." The maneuver was carried out to put the orbiter in the optimal position to receive the Soyuz craft that is set for an October 12 launch to carry U.S. astronaut Mike Fincke, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Lonchakov and U.S. space tourist Richard Garriott to the station.
