India will launch its fifth navigation satellite from the southern spaceport of Sriharikota Wednesday, sources said Tuesday. "The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS-1E) will be launched at 9.31 a.m. local time on board the country's indigenous Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-31)," the sources said. The satellite is part of a constellation of satellites, which together will form what's claimed to be India's equivalent of U.S.' global positioning system. Four satellites have already been launched by the state-owned Indian Space Research Agency and at least three are pending. Once put into orbit, all the satellites provide accurate position information service encompassing an area of 1,500 km. Source: Xinhua News Agency
