The collaboration involves a $250 million investment in LEO services for the initial six years, with an option to extend the investment by another $250 million. Dave Wajsgras, CEO of Intelsat, emphasized the partnership's history and its role in offering multi-orbit solutions, particularly to the commercial aviation sector. Additionally, Intelsat will collaborate with Eutelsat on the development of the Next Generation OneWeb constellation. This partnership will allow Intelsat to contribute to the constellation's design, ensuring it meets future customer requirements effectively.
Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat Group, remarked on the partnership as a testament to the OneWeb constellation's current and future capabilities. She stressed the importance for leading satellite operators to offer comprehensive multi-orbit solutions in today's market.
Wajsgras further expressed confidence in the synergy between Intelsat's expertise, including its GEO and terrestrial networks, and the advanced capabilities provided through the OneWeb LEO network by Eutelsat Group.
