Israel army says three militants killed in Gaza's Rafah

The Israeli military said its forces killed three militants in Gaza's southern area of Rafah on Wednesday while dismantling tunnels in territory under their control.

Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza that has largely halted the war since October 10, though violent incidents continue to be reported, often with fatalities.

"IDF troops operating in the area of Rafah to dismantle underground infrastructure... identified four armed terrorists on the eastern side of the yellow line, within Israeli operational control," the military said, referring to the zone where its troops are stationed.

"Following the identification, the IDF struck and eliminated three of the armed terrorists," it added, noting that there were no Israeli casualties.

Since the ceasefire took effect, both Israel and Hamas have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreement.

At least 245 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire began, according to Gaza's health ministry, which operates under Hamas authority.

The military says it has lost three soldiers in Gaza during the same period.

The US-brokered truce has so far led to the release of all 20 living hostages from Gaza.

Militants have also returned the remains of 24 deceased captives, while the bodies of four hostages are still being held in Gaza.
