Estonian company Milrem unveiled on Tuesday a prototype modular hybrid unmanned ground vehicle at the Singapore Airshow 2016.

The THeMIS is a tracked, modular platform that allows different superstructures to be mounted and integrated onto the middle of the vehicle platform for missions such as rescue, transport and reconnaissance.

"Unmanned systems will play a significant role in the development of military capabilities in future," said Milrem's Chief Executive Officer Kuldar Vaarsi. "Within the next 10 years, we will see smart ground systems complimenting the human troops during joint missions.

"We are excited to be in cooperation with [Singapore's] ST Kinetics for THeMIS ADDER, and we're sure that this universal UGV concept will effectively supplement defense capabilities."

THeMIS ADDER is a variant vehicle equipped with ST Kinetics' remote weapon station.

Milrem has successfully conducted initial running tests for the THeMIS prototype, and the vehicle will be ready for production by the end of this year.
