Nissan to put fuel efficiency gauge in all new models
Tokyo (AFP) Aug 21, 2007 Japan's Nissan Motor Co. announced Tuesday plans to install a fuel efficiency gauge in all future new models in its latest effort to tap growing interest in energy-saving motoring. Nissan said that based on its own tests it estimates the gauge could cut fuel consumption by an average 10 percent as drivers improve their "eco-driving habits" in response to the real-time gauge readings. The automaker introduced a similar service in January through its Carwings navigation system for certain models. Canberra, Australia (SPX) Aug 10, 2007Casting technology developed by the Light Metals Flagship has given the Australian automotive industry a technical boost in the move to make lighter, more fuel-efficient cars. The technology, T-Mag, enables super-light magnesium alloys to be cast into high-integrity, high-strength automotive components. Low production costs make T-Mag castings cost-competitive with aluminium and steel automotive components. |
