Power Electronics has successfully completed the supply and commissioning of PV Plant Los Puquios 3MW in Tarapaca- the first 3MW in Chile and a first for Power Electronics. Up until January 2014, the total PV power capacity installed in the country was 6.7 MW: the new plant will bring Chile nearly 10 MW.

The company has supplied two solar Freesun HET steel 40" containers, 40 with a unitary power of 1.4 MW each - including all the LV and MV electrical equipment.

Chile is one of the most promising markets for PV solar energy, with 128 MW under construction, more than 5GW approved by the SEIA and other 4.7 GW in rating process.

"The implementation of this project represents a progress in the international expansion strategy of the Solar Division, looking at Latin American as one of the markets with most growth potential in the medium term.

"Indeed, the existing implementation of our Industrial Division in countries such as Chile, Brazil, Peru, Colombia or Mexico, puts us in an advantageous position, favoring the strategy POWER ON SUPPORT by offering a 24 hour service and technical assistance with local presence in each of the markets" explains Miguel Angel Escribano, Power Electronics Solar Division Director.

The Spanish company's subsidiary is established in Chile since 2008 count CODELCO, YAMANA GOLD and Anglo American as customers.

Power Electronics now reaches 25 countries with a total installed PV capacity of 850MW.
