ReAgent Supports Space Balloon Project
by Staff Writers
London UK (SPX) Aug 24, 2012

Josh hit the headlines in October last year when he launched his home-made space balloon into the atmosphere and posted the video on YouTube. The astonishing results became an overnight sensation generating national and international media coverage including ABC News, Today, ITN News and Weather, The Telegraph and The Daily Mail.

Now Josh wants to push the boundaries of what is possible with space balloons and is embarking on a new venture which he calls JoshTalking Space Art or JTSA for short.

Josh explains, "This is an attempt to produce an artistic piece of work at nearly 100,000 feet using a weather balloon. The project will require the use of liquids high above the Earth's surface which will present a number of challenges due to atmospheric pressure."

So Josh contacted ReAgent to ask for their technical support and expertise in a number of areas.

Firstly, Josh needed information about the role that chemicals could play in the latest project with particular regard to anti-freezing and heat-retention properties. He also needed engineering support with the design intricacies of his project. And, of course, Josh needed some chemicals.

ReAgent Managing Director Richard Hudson explains, "As one of the UK's leading chemical suppliers, we have a wealth of highly qualified people with 'hands on' experience of many chemical applications.

"When I became aware of Josh's project I knew we had a lot more to offer Josh than just chemicals - our technical expertise would be of considerable benefit to him - so I asked Charles Screawn of our Technical Sales Team to spend some time with Josh helping to develop and facilitate his ideas."

Charles Screawn continues, "We are well-used to giving our professional advice and technical support but this was definitely one of the more unusual enquiries we have received. We are genuinely enthusiastic about Josh's latest venture and looking forward to the next step of the project. This enquiry lines up with the Company's 'can do' approach and we are delighted to have become involved in something that has tested our technical abilities."

Although precise details of the latest space balloon project are still under wraps it can be revealed that discussions between ReAgent chemists and Josh are taking place with plans for his newest venture to go live in the near future.

ReAgent are proud to be involved with Josh as his preferred chemical supplier.

Building 45 Payloads for Balloon Mission
Greenbelt MD (SPX) May 30, 2012
Robyn Millan's lab is a little crowded at the moment. It overflows with electronics. And foam. And parachutes and aluminum frames and drills. Based at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, Millan and her students are busy building 45 payloads - each destined for a trip on a balloon around Antarctica as part of a NASA mission called BARREL, or the Balloon Array for RBSP Relativistic Electron Losses. ... read more
