The air forces of Romania and Thailand are joining the international list of countries using Lockheed Martin's Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod sensor system.

Lockheed Martin said the system was recently selected by the countries for their F-16 fighter fleets and the contracts received will also provide the two air forces with initial sustainment support for the systems.

"Sniper ATP will provide the RoAF and the RTAF with precision targeting capability to locate targets using high-resolution imagery," said Rich Lovette, Sniper ATP international program director at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. "Sniper ATP's proven performance and low life-cycle costs are key differentiators for these air forces and other allies abroad."

The Sniper ATP sensor system provides pilots with high-resolution imagery for precision targeting and non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Among its capabilities are detection, identification, automatic tracking and laser-designation of targets at long ranges.

Deliveries of the systems ordered have begun, Lockheed Martin said, but additional details were not provided.
