The first Borei class nuclear sub, the Alexander Nevsky, is to conduct a test launch of the Bulava ballistic missile in 2012, a representative of Russia's Naval Staff Chief said.

According to some previous media reports, the Alexander Nevsky was to launch several Bulava rockets this year. However the source dismissed these allegations saying there will be just one launch.

The military top official also stressed that the Alexander Nevsky nuclear submarine might enter service by the end of 2012.

Yuri Dolgoruky nuclear sub to join Russian fleet in October
The Yuri Dolgoruky, the first Borei class nuclear submarine carrying Bulava ballistic missiles, is to join the Russian fleet in October 2012, a high-ranking Russian military official said.

The source dismissed media reports, alleging that another Bulava-equipped nuclear sub, the Alexander Nevsky, will enter service in October alongside with the Yuri Dolgoruky.

It is slated to join the Russian Navy later on, he said.
