ST Marine marks interim acceptance of Omani vessel

An interim delivery and acceptance ceremony has been held by Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd for the second offshore patrol vessel for Oman.

At a ceremony for the RNOV Shinas, attended by the commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Adm. Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al-Raisi, ST Marine named the third of four OPV for Oman, the RNOV Sadh.

"ST Marine and the Royal Navy of Oman are again proud that we have achieved this 'Double Milestones, Double Happiness' together," said St Marine President Ng Sing Chan. "Without the unwavering support from the leadership of the Royal Navy of Oman and the resident project team, we would not be where we are today. I look forward to the next partnership with the Royal Navy of Oman."

ST Marine was awarded th contract to build the Al-Ofouq-class vessels in April 2012.

The Al-Ofouq-class boats are 246 feet long and displace 1,377 tons.

France to get new Navy support ships

The French Navy is to receive four ocean-going support ships under a contract awarded to a joint venture between Piriou shipyards and DCNS, called KERSHIP.
