Saab producing artillery training rounds for unidentified client
by Richard Tomkins
Washington (UPI) Dec 5, 2017

Saab Defense reported an unidentified client has tapped the company's Swiss subsidiary to supply 155mm training artillery ammunition.

The order carries a value of about $14.4 million. Deliveries will take place over the next two years.

"The industry's nature is such that due to circumstances concerning the product and customer, further information about the customer will not be announced," Saab said in a release Tuesday.

Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland Ltd., part of Saab's Dynamics business area, will work on the contract, which will entail converting live rounds into training rounds.

"This is yet another proof of the expertise and knowledge we have within the field of artillery ammunition, and the order is in line with our long-term strategy to strengthen and develop our product portfolio," Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics business area, said in a statement. " Our SBDS team has a huge amount of experience to fulfill a wide range of service contracts within the field of munitions, the respective components and explosives - both nationally and internationally."

Saab said the order follows another contract executed for the client in 2015 and 2016.
