Safran DSI achieves milestone with first US-built VISION satellite antenna

Safran Defense and Space, Inc. (DSI) has announced the successful production of its first U.S.-manufactured VISION 5.5-meter full-motion satellite tracking antenna. The advanced unit, designed for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) operations, was built at the company's Norcross, Georgia, facility, marking a significant step in U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. Four additional units are slated for production within the next year.

The VISION antenna is tailored to meet the demands of high-duty cycle proliferated LEO satellite operations. Its versatile design supports a wide array of missions, including satellite communications and remote sensing. The system's state-of-the-art tri-band frequency capability enables simultaneous operations in X, S, and Ka bands, making it a robust solution for both modern proliferated LEO operations and legacy space missions.

"Building a new antenna here reflects our commitment to offering American-made solutions for our customers and the U.S. government, while also establishing the U.S. as a hub of expertise and support," said Richard Schgallis, EVP Strategic Business Development and Head of Space Solutions.

He added, "DSI reaffirms its commitment to U.S. manufacturing with plans to open a new factory in Colorado for small-satellite electric propulsion thrusters, with the first deliveries expected in Q2 2026."

The Norcross facility represents a cornerstone of Safran DSI's technological advancement, specializing in antenna manufacturing, rigorous validation processes, and comprehensive product support. Certified to AS9100 standards, the facility upholds the highest levels of quality and reliability in its operations.
