Soyuz 2-1B Carrier Rocket Launched From Baikonur

The Soyuz 2-1B carrier rocket with the Resurs-P No.3 remote-sensing satellite was successfully launched from Baikonur on Sunday, which was the second attempt, a spokesman to the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos told RIA Novosti.

"The carrier rocket Soyuz-2-1B was launched at the scheduled time - 9:56 p.m. Moscow time [18:56 GMT]," the spokesman said.

Previously, The launch of the Soyuz 2-1B carrier rocket with the Resurs-P No.3 remote-sensing satellite has been postponed to Sunday evening, the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos said on Saturday. Earlier in the day, an automatic engine cutoff cancelled the launch of the Russian Soyuz 2-1B rocket carrier from Baikonur.

"For technical reasons, the launch of Soyuz-2 -1B with the Resurs-P No. 3 remote-sensing satellite has been postponed to the backup date of March 13, 2016, 21:56 Moscow Time [6:56 GMT], " the Roscosmos' press service said in a statement.

A source at the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos said that an automatic engine cutoff has cancelled the launch of the Russian Soyuz 2-1B rocket carrier from Baikonur on Saturday.

"The automatic engine cutoff occurred during the lift-off of the Soyuz 2-1B carrier rocket with the Resurs-P No.3 remote-sensing satellite. The launch has been cancelled, the causes are being investigated, " the source said.
