Sparq, Nautilus and City of Lordsburg Announce Solar Project

Sparq, Nautilus Solar Energy and The City of Lordsburg, New Mexico have announced an agreement to supply solar energy to the City of the Lordsburg. The 1.5 MW solar energy project ("Project") will comprise of rooftop and ground mount solar installations for behind-the-meter applications at the city's waste water treatment plant, well pumping station, fluoride plant, city hall and fire station. The systems are expected to go on-line late in the summer of 2014.

"Working with SPARQ as the developer and Nautilus Solar as the owner/operator is an incredibly beneficial partnership for the City of Lordsburg. With no upfront investment required, it made sense for us from a financial and environmental standpoint considering the reduction in our energy costs that the project provided. All around, this project will improve the quality of life in our community," said City of Lordsburg Mayor Frank Rodriguez.

The solar power system is expected to reduce The City of Lordsburg's energy costs by $3.6 million over the 20-year term.

"We applaud the Mayor and the City Council of Lordsburg for their vision and commitment to the solar project which will provide long term environmental and economic benefits to its citizens," said Nautilus CEO Jim Rice.

"The project will improve the air quality in The City of Lordsburg, while creating green construction jobs in the region. We are committed to developing similar projects in the rural areas of Arizona and New Mexico," said Don Rodriguez, CEO of Sparq, Inc.

Nautilus Solar Executes PPA for 1.5 MW Lordsburg Project
Nautilus Solar Energy has executed a Power Purchase Agreement ("PPA") for a 1.5 MW solar photovoltaic project with the City of Lordsburg, New Mexico. The project will provide clean, solar electricity to the City's wastewater plant, fluoride and pumping station, Police Station and City Hall.

The project is expected to save the City approximately $3.5 million over the twenty year term of the PPA.

This development marks the first project in Nautilus Solar's expansion into the Southwest.

"We are very excited about the opportunities presented for solar power in the Southwest. The Lordsburg project provides significant savings in electricity costs with no local incentives or subsidies and truly represents retail parity," said James Rice, Nautilus Solar's CEO.

"We are looking forward to working with other municipalities and customers in the Southwest to deliver solar electricity that provides cost savings and environmental benefits."
