Tech Data US Enters Partnership With Outdoor Wireless Networking
Clearwater FL (SPX) Mar 13, 2008 Tech Data has announced a partnership with BIG Wireless. Through the Wireless Specialized Business Unit (SBU), Tech Data customers can purchase, brand and resell BIG Wireless' comprehensive array of outdoor wireless networking services, including site surveys, network design and implementation, and 24x7 remote management. "For many of our customers - even the most experienced networking VARs - taking on the design, deployment and management of advanced wireless networking requires a host of new skills and additional expertise," said Chuck Bartlett, Tech Data's vice president, Networking Product Marketing. "By partnering with BIG Wireless, our Wireless SBU now provides resellers with access to all the services and support they need to deploy outdoor wireless networks for municipalities, corporate campuses and universities of all sizes. Most important, all BIG Wireless services can be branded as the reseller's own, ensuring our customers maintain control of the end-user relationship throughout the entire life of the solution." BIG Wireless services available through Tech Data include: site surveys, propagation modeling, point-to-point path studies, spectrum analysis, equipment selection, installation services, voice/video over wireless, GPS location, FCC licensing compliance, and 24x7 technical support and maintenance. Tech Data also is offering BIG's Red Zone Problem Resolution Service, through which BIG Wireless will troubleshoot and resolve wireless networking problems. By leveraging BIG Wireless, resellers do not need to invest in additional training for their engineers or end-user customers; build and staff a network operations center to maintain the solution; obtain the necessary permits and develop documentation for projects; or procure the engineering expertise necessary for building towers, placing antennas and securing the network. The new agreement allows Thoroughbred breeders, owners, managers and agents the ability to obtain Destron Fearing LifeChip radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchips from The Jockey Club for use in Thoroughbred horses. |
