Rosatom to Start Construction of Nuclear Power Plant in Turkey by March 2015
Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom will begin construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) at a Turkish site by March 2015, Rosatom CEO Sergei Kirienko said Monday.

"We are planning to start actual construction at the site by march," Kirienko, who accompanies President Vladimir Putin on an official visit to Turkey, told reporters in Ankara.

"We are already ordering the necessary equipment, training specialists," Kirienko said.

In May 2010, Russia and Turkey signed an agreement on construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in southern Turkey comprising four 1,200 MW reactors. The commissioning of the first NPP in Turkey is scheduled for 2020.
