Yury Boiko.

Deputy Prime Ministers Yury Boiko of Ukraine and Dmitry Rogozin of Russia have discussed opportunities for Ukrainian-Russian space projects, the administration of Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region said on Tuesday. Boiko and Rogozin met during a conference at the Yuzhmash multi-product engineering plant and Yuzhnoye Design Bureau in Dnipropetrovsk.

Rogozin briefed his hosts on plans to reorganize Russia's space rocket industry that would "stimulate the further development of cosmonautics in the region." He mentioned Monday's emergence of Russia's United Rocket and Space Corporation.

"Today Russia is on the threshold of great changes, and for this reason we stand ready for extremely flexible moves in building up our cooperation. We are ready to go as far as you are ready to," he said.

Boiko said Ukraine's purpose at the conference was 'to show our resources and get our counterparts interested in stepping up cooperation."

Yuzhnoye told Interfax that the conference had looked at joint programs such as Sea Launch, Land Launch and Dnepr, and opportunities for the joint development of new rockets.

Russia, the United States, Brazil, China and the European Space Agency are Ukraine's main space industry partners.
