Z-Medica's QuikClot Combat Gauze has again been recommended the "hemostatic dressing of choice" for the U.S. military.

The recommendation comes from the U.S. Department of Defense's Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care in its updated guidelines to be published in the Journal of Special Operations Medicine.

QuikClot had previously been picked as the dressing of choice for tactical field care.

"Our longstanding and unwavering commitment to the U.S. military goes back over a decade and QuikClot Combat Gauze has been the hemostatic dressing of choice in the Tactical Combat Casualty Guidelines since 2008," said Z-Medica President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen J. Fanning. "While other hemostatic products have been added to the new guidelines as a back-up, QuikClot Combat Gauze continues to be the recommended first line of treatment for saving the lives of our nation's military in the line of fire."

QuikClot gauze is impregnated with Kaolinite, a mineral that promotes blood clotting
