    Iran secretly tested a new surface-to-surface missile (SSM) on January 17, seeking to establish the measurements needed for long-range missiles, the German daily Die Welt reported in its issue to appear on Saturday.

    Raytheon-Led Team Tests AIM-9X Missile

    A Raytheon-led team successfully launched an AIM-9X from a stationary, vertical platform last November. The missile successfully locked on after launch and hit its target in a test of its potential launch from a submarine. The test was conducted for the Naval Sea Systems Command at the U.S. Army's McGregor Test Range in New Mexico Nov. 19, 2005.

    MBDA And Raytheon Battle for Air-to-Air Missile Market Dominance

    A recent analysis by Forecast International estimates that the market for air-to-air missiles will be worth $15.4 billion over the next 10 years, with Raytheon and MBDA sharing the lead. According to Larry Dickerson, Missile Analyst for Forecast International, the continued strong demand for combat aircraft and the drive to modernize air forces is fueling demand for these missiles. More than 52,000 air-to-air missiles will be built worldwide between 2006 and 2015.
