Google brings 'Street View' to Antarctica

Google's "Street View" imagery has sparked privacy concerns in some countries but that's unlikely to be the case with its latest destination - Antarctica, populated mostly by penguins. The Internet giant announced on Friday that Street View, which shows street-level pictures of cities around the world, now encompasses all seven continents with the inclusion of images from Antarctica. A $160 million project will launch three new British satellites by 2013 to image the surface of Earth, a commercial company says. Spacecraft manufacturer Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. and its data processing subsidiary DMCii say the satellites will be able to make out details down to 1 meter (39.37 inches) at their best resolution, the BBC reported Tuesday.
