Agricultural Bank of China expected to announce record IPO
Hong Kong (AFP) July 9, 2010
Agricultural Bank of China is expected to announce Friday a new world record IPO worth about 22.1 billion US dollars, underscoring investors' confidence in the Chinese economy. AgBank - the last of China's Big Four banks to list its shares - on Wednesday said it had raised 68.5 billion yuan (10.1 billion US dollars) from the Shanghai portion of its monster initial public offering. AgBank prices Hong Kong IPO lower than expected
Hong Kong (AFP) July 7, 2010
Agricultural Bank of China has priced the Hong Kong portion of its massive stock sale at 3.20 Hong Kong dollars (41 cents) per share, below the top end of its expected range. AgBank - the last of China's big four lenders to float its shares - had said the stock would be priced between 2.88 Hong Kong dollars and 3.48 Hong Kong dollars a share, raising 13.1 billion US dollars at the top end. ... more

Romania issues flooding red alert on the Danube

Romanian authorities on Monday issued a flooding red alert for several towns along the Danube, which has risen to a record level, threatening to cause further damage in the hard-hit country. Romania flood death toll climbs to 25: official
Bucharest (AFP) July 3, 2010
The death toll in Romania from storms and floods has climbed to 25, the emergency situations inspectorate said Saturday as the Danube river rose to a record level in some places. The new toll came after a young man taken by waters on Monday in the northern department of Suceava was found dead, and two other people were killed by lightning, the spokesman for the inspectorate, Alin Maghiar, told AFP.
